Monday Night Football? Nope this is MONDAY NIGHT SKIING! When the sun went down on Monday night in Presque Isle, Maine the xc-ski action was just getting started. Lights, music, and fireworks on and off the ski trails made for a dynamite evening of racing at the Maine Winter Sports Center/Nordic Heritage Lodge.
 and Katja Ivanova (Rossignol/National Guard) were the fastest qualifiers on the lightening fast coarse that featured short, fast climbs and big downhill rollers. Ivanova never looked back. She cruised through her elimination heats and beat out second place finisher Aelin Peterson in the finals for the victory and $1,000 purse. </p>
<p>John “Ferrari” Farra (MWSC/Alpina): let it be known that he is back, and taking no prisoners by winning a second straight Banknorth Eastern Cup sprint. Hundreds of fans cheered for their MWSC coach as he dominated each heat. Colin Mahood (Rossignol/XC Oregon) was a close second followed by Scott Mcart (APU) and Dave Stewart (Subaru Factory Team/ MWSC). Torin Koos’ string of bad luck this year continued when he got tripped up on the final climb and was eliminated. Perhaps he’s storing up his good luck for a podium finish later this year at the U-23 World Championships.</p>
