Summer Biathlon combines target shooting with rollerskiing or running. Athletes compete following similar rules and distances to the winter version of the sport. Athletes carry rifles on their backs while rollerskiing but for the running events, rifles are left on racks at the shooting range. Penalties are applied for missed targets.
