June 22 – Sept. 7, Bingo Night. Every Monday, bingo lovers will play on the lawn outside of Northwoods Clubhouse from 6:30 – 8 p.m. for a chance to win prizes. June 27, Summer Kick Off Concert at Northwoods Clubhouse. From 6 – 8 p.m. everyone is invited to a free concert at Northwoods Clubhouse, complete with a bounce house and concessions (available for purchase). July 3, Summer Concert on the Green. Guests will be transported back in time for this concert which features Beatles and Rolling Stones tribute bands at the Tahoe Donner Driving Range. Tickets are on sale for $35 for adults and are expected to sell out. The doors open at 5 p.m. and the concert starts at 6 p.m. Food and drink will be available on-site, but outside food and drink is also allowed. July 10, Aug. 28, Sept. 4, Cornhole Tournaments. The community is invited to play in three summer cornhole tournaments at Tahoe Donner’s new Alder Creek Adventure Center. It is $5 per team to compete and the winning team will take home prizes. July 18 – 19, Sierra 4×4 Trails & Ales. The Tahoe Donner 4-Wheelers Club will host the first annual Sierra 4×4 Trails & Ales at the Alder Creek Adventure Center on July 18 from 1 – 6 p.m. The event includes a show-and-shine of four-wheeling vehicles, games, raffles, a beer tasting, and BBQ dinner. It’s also a chance for those new to four-wheeling to learn more about the sport. On the following day, those who sign up at td4wheelers.com will also go on a trail run. Proceeds from the event benefit the new Tahoe Donner Giving Fund. Tahoe Donner created the Tahoe Donner Giving Fund (TDGF) in fall 2014. It is an affiliate program designed to make charitable contributions to benefit the greater Truckee/North Tahoe area. The Alder Creek Adventure Center is located at 15275 Alder Creek Rd., Truckee, CA 96161, 530-587-9400, www.tahoedonner.com.

 

Sept. 6, Summer Finale BBQ. Taking place at the Tahoe Donner Driving Range, guests will enjoy sum­mer activities including live music, three-legged races, potato sack races, and more. The evening will culminate with a movie on the grass after the sun sets. This event is from 1 – 9 p.m. and BBQ is available for purchase. Oct. 10, Fall Festival. The sixth annual Fall Festival returns to Tahoe Donner again this year at Northwoods Clubhouse. There is something for everyone at this harvest festival from arts and crafts vendors, the annual doggie dip in the pool, seasonal beer offerings, the pumpkin patch, a carnival area for kids with arts, crafts, games and food. Entry into the event is free. Activities are available with a la carte tickets or wristbands. May – October, Family Movie Night. Every Friday, kids and adults may bring a pillow and blanket to Northwoods Clubhouse to watch both classic and new movies. May – October, Trivia Night. Every Thursday night is Trivia Night at Pizza on the Hill. Answering questions correctly could mean winning free prizes and gift certificates. Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center – Events and Lessons

 

June 27, Opening Day at Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center. The Equestrian Center will be open through Sept. 27 (weather permitting), offering a variety of trail rides, pony rides, private lessons, boarding, horsemanship camps, events and more. July 11, July 25 and Aug. 22, 2015, Saturday Night BBQ. Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center will be hosting three themed barbeques from 5 – 7:30 p.m. Themes may include a renaissance night with mock sword fighting lessons, Mexican fiesta with traditional games or a western hoedown with line dancing lessons. All Saturday Night BBQs include games, crafts, contests, dress up and BBQ dinner. Cost per person varies from $34 to $45 per person, with discounts for children. July 17, Aug. 14 and Aug. 21, Cowgirls and Cocktails. Offered on select Fridays from 5 – 7 p.m., cowgirls and cow­boys are invited to gather for an early evening trail ride through the meadows and forests, followed by beer, wine and appetiz­ers on the deck at the Alder Creek Adventure Center. This event is for adults 21 and older only. Tahoe Donner Golf Course

 

Tahoe Donner Golf Course Open Daily. The golf course is open every day, along with the driving range. Golfers will enjoy clinics, rentals, events and more. May – October, Golf Clinics and Private Lessons. Golf clinics are offered every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for $20 per person, per session. Each day of the week represents a different clinic from putting and chipping to full swing. Private lessons may be arranged any day of the week and are custom-designed to fit any golfer’s skillset and areas of improvement desired. June 19, Glow Golf Family Fun. This family-friendly event includes dinner at the T-9 Grill, a putting closest-to-pin contest for kids, a 5-hole putting contest and a 3-hole glow golf contest with glow golf balls (provided). Prizes will be awarded to winners. Dinner, golf, prizes and glow gear included. Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for kids 12 and under. June 22 – 24, July 6 – 8, July 13 – 15, July 20 – 22, July 27 – 29, Junior Golf School. 8- to 14-year-old players will learn full swing, putt, chip, pitch, rules and etiquette on the first two days of school and play the course on day three, implementing what they have learned. July 22, Tahoe Donner Soccer Golf. It’s a cross between soccer and golf and it’s quickly becoming a new trend across the country. Soccer golf will be held on the driving range and costs up to $8 per person to play. Tahoe Donner Bikeworks

 

Bikeworks Open Daily. Bikeworks is open every day from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., offering a variety of bike rentals, tune-ups and repairs. New this year to Bikeworks is fat bikes, which are great for sand, snow and mud. Those looking to explore new areas may enroll in a group bike tour for $15 for person, lasting up to two hours. Group rides are available daily at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Adolescents and teens may also join a Kids Camp program for riding and exploring. Two-day camps and new week-long camps are available. With wedding season fast approaching, Tahoe Donner is pleased to receive a Best of Weddings 2015 award by The Knot, a multi-media company headquartered in New York City, N.Y. that publishes content for couples planning weddings. Introduced by National Ski Areas Association, January is known as Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, a national effort to introduce newcomers to snowsports. Tahoe Donner Downhill and Cross Country Ski Areas are proud to participate in this program by offering beginner packages to those new to the sport. Between Jan. 5-9 and Jan. 12-16 those who have never tried skiing or snowboarding can take advantage of deeply discounted learn to ski and snowboard deals.

At Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area, packages are $39 for first-timers and include an all-day lift ticket, rental equipment, and a 1.75 hour group lesson for ages 7 and up. “We are pleased to offer some of the best beginner packages,” said Downhill Ski Area Manager Robert McClendon. “We are known as ‘the best place to begin’ and we pride ourselves in offering programs for children as young as 3 years old.” Reservations can be made by calling 530-587-9444.

At Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area, two participants can learn to ski for the price of one. For $81, the package includes a one-hour private lesson with all-day trail passes and rentals for two people. “This is an inclusive package,” explained Cross Country Ski Manager Sally Jones. “People tend to be more comfortable learning how to ski with friends and this package gives skiers that chance at half the price.” Reservations can be made by calling 530-587-9484.

Outside of Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, customizable ski packages can be arranged to accommodate large groups, private lessons, transportation, lunch and more. An opportunity for companies to host parties and rent out the Tahoe Donner Downhill mountain is also available. For as low as $75 a person, a group can book the mountain on a Tuesday, complete with lunch, rentals, equipment and a race course. (Mountain is still open to passholders, but closed to the public).

Returning this year to Tahoe Donner is Winter Trails Day, a national event co-hosted by Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area and REI.

Occurring annually now for twenty years, Winter Trails Day is a chance for those new to snowsports to try cross country skiing and snowshoeing for free on Jan. 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area. In order to participate in the event, advance registration is required through REI Sacramento at: http://www.rei.com/sacramento. Space is limited to 350 people; Tahoe Donner staff expects the event to sell out quickly.

 

“We recognize that many folks have never tried cross country skiing and snowshoeing,” said Tahoe Donner Cross Country Manager Sally Jones. “Winter Trails Day is a chance for people to give it a try and receive helpful tips while having fun and enjoying some outdoor exercise.”

 

Winter Trials Day helps newcomers and seasoned winter sports enthusiasts discover the great fitness benefits of cross country skiing and snowshoeing; the event includes equipment demonstrations, mini snowshoe and cross country ski lessons, live music and food. While the event is free to those who register, a $5 donation is encouraged as part of a fundraiser to benefit the Truckee High School Nordic Ski Team. In 2013, Winter Trails Day raised $2,000 for the team.

Initial operations will include 30 kilometers of terrain with the following trails: Night Hawk, Rough Rider, North Fork, Pony Express, Lions Leap, Sundance, Firewalker, Hastings, Crazy Horse, and the road into and along the south side of Euer Valley (out and back). Ski school, rentals, and limited food and beverage operations will be available for beginner through advanced skiers.

A brand new state-of-the-art facility, designed to be highly energy efficient and ecofriendly, is scheduled to open in 2015. Until it is completed, a temporary village is in its place for guests, complete with the largest Nordic clothing and accessories retail selection in the area. Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area also offers a variety of events throughout the season, including Winter Trails Day—a chance for those new to cross country to ski for free, plus equipment demonstrations and an array of snowshoe tours. Note: with temporary operations, season passes for cross country will temporarily need to be purchased over the next few weeks at Member Services, located in the Northwoods Clubhouse. Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area will open Saturday, Dec 20. The season will start with Eagle Rock chairlift running and Mile Run open. The Magic Carpet will be available for lessons only and learning center terrain will also be available for lessons and the public, in addition to ski school for all levels and ages for skiing and snowboarding. Food and beverage service, a retail shop, and rental equipment will be available. Tahoe Donner Snowplay opened for the season on Dec. 13 for sledding and will continue to operate daily from Friday, Dec. 19 through Sunday, Jan. 4. After the holidays, Snowplay will return to its regular hours of operation: Fridays from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tahoe Donner Snowplay is known for having wonderful value for sledding, plus a variety of family events, including Friday Night Tubing, the New Year’s Eve Sunset Snowshoe Tour and the first-ever Winterpalooza—a day packed full of tube racing, snowman building, relay races and more. Tahoe Donner’s on-snow gourmet food and wine event

Tahoe Donner’s first annual Taste of Truckee on-snow gourmet food and wine event will debut at the Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center March 23. This event is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and foodies alike.

Cross country skiers and snowshoers can work up an appetite by hitting the trails and then indulging in a variety of food samples from local restaurants along with a selection of delicious wines. Beginners can rent skis or snowshoes at the Cross Country Ski Center and get a few free pointers from our experienced instructors before heading out on the trail.

The tour will take place from 12:30-2:30 p.m. with après fun taking place until 4:30 p.m. The cost, including trail pass, is $35 for adults and $20 for 18 and under if purchased in advance or $45 for adults and $30 for 18 and under the day of the event (non-alcoholic beverages only for under 21). A percentage of proceeds will be donated to our local Tahoe Food Hub, and to Far West Nordic Ski Education Association.

Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center opened Dec. 8 and is currently open daily from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. with half-day rates of $22 ($14 for homeowners) for an all-day trail pass. After 1 p.m., twilight rates of $17 ($12 for homeowners) are offered. Rental equipment is available. Alder Creek Café is open on a limited basis with coffee, tea, soup and muffins. Dog trails are not currently open. Check the website for the conditions report.

Starting this Friday, Dec. 13, through Friday, Dec. 20, the Cross Country Ski Center will be offering trail passes at just $15 for guests and rentals for $10 as part of their Bring a Friend Passholder Event. On Saturday, Dec. 14, the Cross Country Center will host its first Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe Tour complete with dinner and a wine tasting from 5-8 p.m. for just $45 for adults and $30 for 12 and under. Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area offers great programs – including a newly announced Junior Biathlon program – sign-ups for season-long programs are still available.
