Williams College invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach of Nordic Skiing for the academic year 2018-2019. This is a full-time, academic year (10 month) term position with the possibility of renewal.

Summit Nordic Ski Club is Hiring

The Summit Nordic Ski Club (SNSC) is one of Colorado’s fastest growing youth ski programs and serves Summit County, Colorado (Breckenridge, Frisco, Silverthorne, Keystone and Dillon). SNSC has a top-notch coaching staff and is looking to recruit one more. We have five winter programs and are looking for an assistant coach to primarily help with our Devo Program (ages 11-13). Olof Hedberg is the Head Coach for SNSC and is responsible for training plan design and overseeing the entire program and coaching staff. This position would report directly to the Head Coach. Assistant coaches are on the front line working with athletes to help them achieve their individual goals from Olympic hopefuls to kids who enjoy being outside and want to improve their Nordic technique.

SNSC is a relatively small organization which makes it feel more like a family. Our athletes and families are a fantastic group of people. We hope to find an excellent coach to join our community and help our club continue to grow.

The Assistant Coach position is currently seasonal (October – March) and part time, but has the potential for full time work over the winter. There is also potential to extend the job into our summer programs. Our Devo program meets 4 days per week and has four main race weekends (travel Thursday/Friday and return Sunday) over the winter.

Our ideal candidate will have a love for Nordic skiing, experience working with kids and a generally positive and energetic attitude. Strong knowledge of Nordic technique and training principles are also important.

In addition we would like someone who:

● Has a background in high-level Nordic racing
● USSA Level 100 Coach
● Is a proficient roller skier (able to ski with athletes over varied terrain and long distances)
● Has waxing experience
● Ability to safely drive a 15 passenger van in snowy conditions

The Rivers School Seeks Assistant Nordic Coach

The Rivers School in Weston, Mass., seeks an assistant Nordic coach. Entering its third year, the Rivers Nordic program is rapidly growing in popularity on campus. The assistant coach will play a large role in helping to foster the growth of our upper school team and our student’s love for skiing and the outdoors.

The Rivers School Nordic ski team prides itself on developing skiers who love to work with a team, embrace the challenges and rewards of hard training, and enjoy the beauty of snowy winters through exercise. We take an approach that focuses on growth. Specifically, our training is designed to allow athletes to build endurance, develop proper skiing technique, improve balance, and increase strength.

Our team is structured to help both elite skiers progress to the highest levels of the sport and help new skiers learn how to ski and race. While racing at its core is an individual activity, we value strong team chemistry. We take the view that you ski better and faster when you are happy, motivated, supported by teammates and coaches, and possess a desire to help your team succeed. We also take great pride in growing students’ love of this lifelong sport.

The assistant coach will be responsible for attending practices each day of the week and 4 races throughout the winter. Aside from the league championships, all races take place on Wednesdays. Rivers competes in the Lakes Region and New England Prep School Athletic Conference.

MBSEF Seeks Assistant Nordic Coach
The Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation is seeking an Assistant Nordic Coach to lead, motivate, educate and provide direction to athletes/ members of the MBSEF Nordic program and assist the Nordic Director in all facets of the Nordic Program, including Collegiate Programs, Masters Programs, U18/U16 racing programs, Middle School development, and Youth programs.

Job Qualifications: The Assistant Coach must have a practical knowledge of current cross-country techniques and training methods, proficiency with wax selection and application, experience with equipment repair and selection, and knowledge of sports nutrition, strength training, and sports psychology. In addition to coaching duties, the assistant coach will be expected to perform various office duties which require some basic computer skills, good communication skills, knowledge of social media, and some office work experience.

Primary Responsibilities
- Contribute to a positive and motivating environment to foster a lifelong love for the sport of cross country skiing
- Works to support the vision, mission and philosophy of MBSEF
- Assists head coach with Full-time, Winter Term and Middle School program athletes including collegiate athletes
- Travel with selected MBSEF teams
- Help design schedules and training programs
- Instruct Master skiers in MBSEF program
- Assist Director with organization and execution of MBSEF races.
- Supports staff and racers at local races
- Attend various staff/program meetings
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist with some MBSEF fundraising events
- Help to maintain the integrity of the MBSEF Nordic as well as all other programs and activities of MBSEF
Reporting Responsibilities
- Reports to Nordic Program Director for all matters relating to the Nordic Program

AVSC Seeks Assistant Nordic Coach
Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club (AVSC) in Aspen, Colo., is seeking a assistant Nordic coach for the 2017-18 season. This is a full-time position running from June-March. AVSC offers programs for student-athletes throughout the Roaring Fork Valley, in grades 1-12 as well as a Post-Graduate program.

AVSC was founded in 1937 by a group of passionate skiers who wanted to spread the sport to the local community. Eighty years later, as the valley’s oldest and largest youth non-profit, AVSC has taught generations of local children the very sports that revitalized the Aspen/Snowmass area. Through AVSC, children and teens experience the mountains in winter, build character, challenge themselves and make new friends.

AVSC Nordic has a rich tradition of success. Recent alumni include U.S. National Team athletes, two Sochi Olympic team members, and hundreds of exceptional alumni. Our team programs are designed to develop, challenge, and engage athletes of all ability levels. All team programs are offered in Aspen at the Aspen High School Trails and in Carbondale at the Spring Gulch Trails.

Sugar Bowl Ski Team and Academy is seeking a full-time assistant Nordic coach for the 2017-18 season. Sugar Bowl Academy offers a year-round program for student-athletes, in grades 8-12 as well as a Post-Graduate program. The University of Vermont (UVM) in Burlington, Vt., is in search of an assistant nordic ski coach to assist the head coach in performing the duties of managing the intercollegiate sport of skiing within the education mission of the University. The Winter Park Competition Center is looking for an assistant nordic coach and part-time coaches for the 2016-2017 season. The positions will be for the winter (4-5 months) with various time commitments depending on the availability and qualifications of the applicant. Soldier Hollow Seeking Assistant Coach
Soldier Hollow is seeking an assistant coach for the upcoming fall/winter season. Team Soldier Hollow is a 150-skier club based out of the 2002 Olympic and Paralympic cross-country ski venue in Midway, Utah. More information on our youth ski programs can be found at teamsoldierhollow.com

Primary responsibilities include: assisting with all practices, effectively communicating with athletes, parents, and coaches, traveling to local and regional races, assisting with waxing and other race day duties, driving Soldier Hollow vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience cross-country ski racing and/or coaching
- Current, or ability to obtain, USSA coach membership
- 22 years of age or older
- Ability to drive Soldier Hollow vehicles
- Available to work weekends during the winter season
The assistant coach position can be full or part time depending on qualifications and preference. Compensation is dependent upon experience.
