Benilde-St. Margaret’s School is hiring a Head Nordic Ski Coach to lead its cooperative program with DeLaSalle High School for the 2026-27 winter season. BSM is a Catholic, college-preparatory school in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, on the western edge of Minneapolis, and its Nordic team brings together skiers from both schools through a long-standing partnership.
The program is replacing both its head coach and its senior assistant coach this season. The roster is young, with a strong freshman class, and the program is looking for a coach who can build on the team culture the previous staff established while developing that talent toward a run at the state meet in the coming years.
Position Overview
The head coach develops skiers of every experience level, builds a welcoming team culture and pursues competitive excellence, with student-athlete growth at the center of the program. That means setting a positive, inclusive tone for athletes from both schools, communicating clearly with families and school leadership, and building a team in which every skier feels valued and challenged. The head coach also leads and supports the assistant coaching staff, with an emphasis on consistency and a smooth transition into the season.
The Details
- Head coach of the Benilde-St. Margaret’s/DeLaSalle cooperative Nordic program for the 2026-27 winter season
- Stipend, commensurate with experience — $5,000 to $8,000
- Reports to Matt Pryor, BSM Director of Athletics & Activities
- After-school practices and meets through the winter, plus preseason planning and coordination with both schools
- The selected candidate must complete BSM’s hiring, background check, Safe Environment and coaching requirements before working with student-athletes
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead practices, competitions and athlete development throughout the season
- Teach sound ski technique, conditioning, race strategy and safe training habits
- Coordinate schedules, transportation, equipment and meet logistics with the BSM Athletics & Activities Department and DeLaSalle
- Recruit, supervise and develop assistant coaches in collaboration with BSM
- Communicate proactively with athletes and families, including schedule updates through BSM’s designated platform
- Maintain program equipment and keep an accurate inventory
- Uphold BSM’s standards for sportsmanship, student well-being and Minnesota State High School League compliance
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience coaching or competing in Nordic skiing
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with student-athletes at varying skill levels
- Commitment to a safe, supportive team environment
Preferred:
- High school coaching experience
- Familiarity with Minnesota Nordic skiing competitions and the MSHSL
- Experience leading a coaching staff or a cooperative program
