  • Birkie Tour Price Increase Fast Approaching

    (Press release)

Skiers Encouraged to Register by Thursday at 11:59pm!

HAYWARD, Wis. (January 3, 2018) – With flurries in the air and Birkie week festivities a mere 49 days away, skiers are more excited than ever to get some training time in on their skis. The Birkie Tour, hosted by the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF), is slated for January 14, 2018. The Birkie Tour is an untimed, non-competitive, “open-track” event where skiers choose their own distance while touring the world-class Birkie trail system. Friday, January 12, 2018, marks the next Birkie Tour price increase; skiers are encouraged to register by Thursday, January 11, at 11:59pm at www.Birkie.com.

The Birkie Tour is a fun and casual event with a morning start time window, a variety of looped courses, warm trailside cabins, and aid stations along the legendary Birkie Trail course. Tour skiers are often skiers looking for a supported training day before February races; skiers thinking about the Birkie event, but unsure about being ready; skiers who simply love to ski with family and friends yet haven’t an interest in racing, or anyone interested in experiencing healthy, active, outdoor, winter activities. With 47, 27, or 16 kilometer looped course options available, skiers of all abilities will find a course to suit their needs. Skiers will park, start, and finish in the same location at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead, Cable, WI. The Après ski celebration in the heated Great Hall will include a Greek chicken pita meal, Birkie Brew-Ski, or soft drink for Tour participants. The first 700 Birkie Tour skiers will also receive a Birkie Dry Bag with their registration.

Tour skiers can choose to ski either classic or skate techniques on one of the best cross-country ski trail systems in the World. As a Worldloppet event, skiers can also get credit and a stamp in their Worldloppet passport.
