  • quick update

I’ve been back in Minnesota since nationals. I was exausted after the week of racing up in Alaska, so it was great to come back and relax and recover at home.
Now I’m chomping at the bit and ready to do some more racing! So this weekend I will be braving the freezing rain for the races at Theodore Wirth!!!

P.S. after my last blog post I had many many people who wrote to me saying how proud they are of me. Thank you for all those emails, it has meant alot to me. And I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who has supported me. My memories I’ve made are priceless… but they came with a price tag. So thank you to everyone who has helped me financially, donated miles so I could fly to a training camp, and thank you to everyone who has believed in me.

  • Greatest Snow on Earth

That’s Utah’s claim. . .and this morning, it would be hard to argue.  Northern Michigan gets some deep lake effect snow off of Lake Superior.  The Wasatch Mountains in Utah get their lake effect off the Great Salt Lake.  When the system hits the range, it dumps powder across the Wasatch and make for some of the best skiing in the world.

For the past week, all the locals have been complaining about their lack of snow.  Personally, I’ve been on race skis everyday and have been very impressed by the conditions.  This morning, however, I got my first true taste of Utah powder.

Park City is the place to be this week.  Leif Zimmermann, Caitlin Compton, Billy Demong (Nordic Combined World Champion), and I all got out for a ski at White Pine in Park City this morning.  Having so many skiers in town this week has been great for getting out to train.  We almost took a powder day today, but opted for a classic ski instead.  Still, we couldn’t resist the waist deep powder on the golf course.

Caitlin & I enjoyed talking about the big Mayors Challenge SuperTour on our home course coming up this weekend.  Bummed I won’t be able to compete.  If you’re in Minneapolis this weekend, be sure to check it out!

Thanks to everyone who has been following along for your overwhelming support, both this week and throughout my ski career.  Now get outside and play!

  • Finland!

We made it to Finland and we all got our bags. We flew into Helsinki and drove to Lahti. For dinner we walked down to the mall and went to a Thai Restaurant, it was delicious! We felt out of place in the mall because all of the Finnish girls have dyed hair and wear fancy clothes. Tomorrow we are going to go ski the World Cup trails at Lahti, it should be pretty awesome. But for now we are all very tired and ready for bed!br /Isabeldiv class=”blogger-post-footer”img width=’1′ height=’1′ src=’https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4680416899705879324-4624098554116562454?l=smsxc.blogspot.com’ alt=” //div

  • My snazzy New Toshiba Satellite with crazy cool features!

As my friends at Best Buy like to say about the new laptops they are rockin’: “You spoke. We listened. Laptops with the features you asked for.”

    What a great idea!

Best Buy surveyed consumers to find out the features they most want in their computing experience. Then they partnered with top laptop manufacturers to create laptops with all these requested features and the result is a Best Buy exclusive program called Blue Label.

The features on this thing are bananas. Aside from the aesthetics of the backlit keyboard and sleek blue design and weighing under 5lbs it has everything you want in a laptop. I just enjoyed my unboxing and with my first training session already done for today it’s time to wirelessly stream ski technique videos to my HDTV. Sweet!

    Check it out for yourself.

    Thanks for stopping by,

  • Safe in Finland

Just a quick update to announce that we made it to our hotel in Lahti around 4pm local time. All our travel was on schedule, and without any major mishaps. We arrived at the hotel just before dark, and the temperature was already down to -21* C. Our hotel is within 5-10 minutes walk of the city center, and only a few KM from the ski trails. Tomorrow morning we will await the sunrise, and then check out the venue and do a classic ski.br /br /I’ve got to say, we must have some future NASA scientists in this group, because we managed to defy physics with our ability to fit 15 people, 14 ski bags, 15 duffels, and countless backpacks, into 2 Ford 9-passenger vans. It was a miracle to accomplish, without putting any gear on the roof!br /br /Over and out from Finland, //Timdiv class=”blogger-post-footer”img width=’1′ height=’1′ src=’https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/8099746996508773021-404776880204360488?l=usaj1team.blogspot.com’ alt=” //div
