  • Finals and the SMS 100

On Wednesday, everyone had their last final from 8-10 and then we hit the road for our annual 100 mile bike ride. It was a good day for biking with temps in the 60’s. We had a great loop and ended with a feast at the Caldwell house. Thanks to Lilly for driving the support van and to all the parents for bringing tons of food for dinner.a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_H2SCM3lmKm8/TBFd8YJs3eI/AAAAAAAAC7k/dStvyP5BKys/s1600/IMG_4485.JPG”img style=”display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;” src=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_H2SCM3lmKm8/TBFd8YJs3eI/AAAAAAAAC7k/dStvyP5BKys/s400/IMG_4485.JPG” border=”0″ alt=””id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5481265513343278562″ //aTeam “Seek and Destroy” cruises along, working together with short leads.br /a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_H2SCM3lmKm8/TBFcX_niJ0I/AAAAAAAAC7c/KUCTRQ98QMc/s1600/IMG_4488.JPG”img style=”display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;” src=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_H2SCM3lmKm8/TBFcX_niJ0I/AAAAAAAAC7c/KUCTRQ98QMc/s400/IMG_4488.JPG” border=”0″ alt=””id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5481263788770600770″ //aAfter climbing mt Holly, our route took us down rte 103, then north on 100 before crossing the ridge over to Reading. • “If a tree falls in the forest”, and other jobless ramblings

I have discovered the secret to getting in more training: unemployment…br /br /Which span id=”SPELLING_ERROR_0″ class=”blsp-spelling-corrected”coincidentally/span is my current employment status (well, besides the little bit I do at the ski shop, but I don’t think that counts as the proper use of a doctorate degree – or at least my wife tells me it span id=”SPELLING_ERROR_1″ class=”blsp-spelling-corrected”doesn’t/span). After four span id=”SPELLING_ERROR_2″ class=”blsp-spelling-corrected”grueling/span years I made it through dental school, only to span id=”SPELLING_ERROR_3″ class=”blsp-spelling-corrected”graduate/span during a recession. The good news is that you can’t export teeth, so I do have some options on the horizon and I am sure I will enter the working world soon enough (is that really good news…?). With that in mind I am trying to take advantage of this break between school and the real world and get in a bit of decent training.br /br /One of the best things about living here in Red Wing is that I have the

  • STILL SNOW[ING]

Ketchum, ID – I tried to hike to Pioneer Cabin last week without luck. After struggling across the first snow-field, sinking up past my bare knees and keeping an eye on the dark clouds rolling ever closer, I called it a hike.

The final view on that jaunt is incredible and I was disappointed that I was unable to share it with my visiting friend. There is plenty to enjoy in the valley, regardless of the new snow in the mountains. Check here for the latest trail updates in the Wood River Valley.

    Whoville from Dollar’s backside

I competed in last weeks Wood River Cup, short-track mountain bike race but lost track of time this afternoon and have missed this evening’s adventure. I will have to catch the train again next week. The Sawtooth Relay is coming up Saturday and my first leg, including 1,331″ elevation gain over 5.35 miles, should be killer (hopefully not literally). Ending at 8,701″ ain’t no thang… right?

Last night’s dinner included the first harvest of lettuce from my garden (Ketchum) so spring has sprung, regardless of the continued rain.

    Living it up, Kate
