  • Johnny Klister: Masturbatory Follow Up?

pUpon reviewing the numbers and “entry pages” for Johnny Klister (the pages one is linking to or clicking at prior to this one- don’t worry most are “unknown”), they was a particular Alaskan IP address that has repeatedly looked at some seriously intense porn before logging on to JK, which begs the question, what happens when you get here? Just askin’…./p

  • Silver Star, pt. 2

We’re now five days into our Silver Star camp, and things are looking great. We’ve already logged four intensity sessions, two strength sessions, one OD and three distance workouts. Recovery is supreme, thanks to our nightly home-cooked meals (Sadie and Erik’s lasagna last night would make any Tuscan span style=”font-style: italic;”nonna /spanjealous…) and ample sleep in our spacious condo.br /br /div style=”text-align: center;”a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Mg2hQbkHkNs/SvSMsJNC-oI/AAAAAAAAASo/ieobglJ_lt0/s1600-h/Nov5_SilverStar+003.jpg”img style=”margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;” src=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Mg2hQbkHkNs/SvSMsJNC-oI/AAAAAAAAASo/ieobglJ_lt0/s320/Nov5_SilverStar+003.jpg” alt=”” id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401096543136840322″ border=”0″ //abr /span style=”font-style: italic;”span style=”font-weight: bold;”(Note the jar of Marshmallow Fluff on the counter – supreme recovery food)br /br //span/spandiv style=”text-align: left;”Conditions at Sovereign Lakes Nordic center have been pretty darn good for this time of year, largely thanks to their efforts every day to keep the trails rolled and turned over to prevent excess death-cookie formation. Today’s workout was threshold training; we skied the World Cup loops for about 30min at a pace that was probably just below our race pace. I’m definitely feeling more comfortable with the altitude today than I was on Tuesday, and already the neuromuscular adaptations to on-snow skiing are becoming apparent.br /br /We’ve been able to get out on our new Fischer boards this week and do some testing, and we’re pretty psyched with Hallsey’s picks for us, especially given their performance in these rather funky snow conditions.br /br /span style=”font-style: italic;”span style=”font-weight: bold;”/span/span/divdiv style=”text-align: left;”div style=”text-align: center;”a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Mg2hQbkHkNs/SvSN5O18RKI/AAAAAAAAASw/q1rsGuDXQhY/s1600-h/Nov5_SilverStar+001.jpg”img style=”margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;” src=”http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Mg2hQbkHkNs/SvSN5O18RKI/AAAAAAAAASw/q1rsGuDXQhY/s320/Nov5_SilverStar+001.jpg” alt=”” id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401097867500471458″ border=”0″ //aspan style=”font-weight: bold;”span style=”font-style: italic;”Yes, we’re a bit biased in our ski brand selection.br /br //span/spandiv style=”text-align: left;”It’s also been great skiing up here with a few other of the country’s top athletes. • The Mod Squad

If you’ve ever seen the film Thank You for Smoking, you’ll know the Mod Squad stands for the “Merchants of Death.”  If not, this short trailer will get you up to speed. . .

In the Nordic World, the Mod Squad is the hot new team on the scene.  The Methow Olympic Development Project is comprised of three athletes, quietly putting in the time, getting ready to throw the hammer down this winter.  They’ve had a presence at virtually every training camp I’ve been to this year: Bend, Hayward, Whister, and here in Silver Star, yet outside of the Methow Valley, no one seems to have heard of them.  Keep an eye out this winter for Sam, Sadie, and Erik.  I had the opportunity to ski my cool down this morning with Sam, Erik, and Roberto.

  • Finn Sisu SuperFit this weekend

Don’t forget, the FinnSisu SuperFit sale is this weekend.  SuperFit is a CXC program where CXC Vertical Limit athletes and coaches work with local retailers to help skiers find the best equipment for the coming winter.  I was scheduled to work at the event, but had to back out at the last minute to take advantage of the opportunity to get on snow.  Hopefully Ahvo will understand that while I love my Marwe’s, they just don’t compare to the real thing!  There will be several clinics worth attending and you can check out the schedule here.

  • Teach Your Children

I feel blessed, at the moment. True, there are a couple of nagging little things, like some irregularity with my credit report and my tight hamstrings (not related). But I am enjoying a number of things now. It is 50 and sunny outside; not a typical gray, damp, blustery November day. I got a 90 minute ride this morning before work on my cyclocross bike; some street and some trail. And my kids, age 30 and 28, who are good buddies and both working, have invited and paid for my wife to fly to Denver for a family visit. I get to stay home and work, but I also got to see my daughter and grandson a couple weeks ago when I went to Bellingham, WA for the last kayak slalom of the season. br /Ah those kids. It wasn’t long ago in my mind that they were just learning how to ski. When Erin was 6 and Jed was 4 they were skiing the whole mountain at Mt Ascutney in Vermont. At ages 8 and 6 they were involved in the Andover Outing Club Nordic program in Andover, NH. We all looked forward to winter days when we could ski together. Erin continued to race alpine on the high school team and Jed pursued Nordic Combined, jumping and cross country. Sure, it meant we were often stretched in different directions on weekends and juggled the homework, housework, competition schedule. It was an investment in their health, personal growth, positive identity. The kids grew. So did the dust bunnies under the couch. br /I have to add that my wife and I met when we were both young ski instructors. My father-in-law was a ski instructor. He is 92 and still Nordic ski racing. He came for a visit not long ago with scratches on his hand and face, from a fall he took rollerskiing. br /br /a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://www.webskis.com/uploaded_images/familyski@meissner-794269.jpg”img style=”float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;” src=”http://www.webskis.com/uploaded_images/familyski@meissner-794256.jpg” border=”0″ alt=”” //abr /br /And now, here comes winter. We can’t wait. It means that we can all come together and share a life-long activity, get exercise, build stories, laugh. Last year we rallied on a cold December day, got grandson Corbin bundled into the Chariot and headed into a trailside shelter for lunch. Nobody burned their nylon pants on the stove and we had a great day. It meant we could indulge without guilt in a big meal at home. br /br /a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://www.webskis.com/uploaded_images/bertchariot-773250-737246.jpg”img style=”float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;” src=”http://www.webskis.com/uploaded_images/bertchariot-773250-737236.jpg” border=”0″ alt=”” //abr /br /a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://www.webskis.com/uploaded_images/D+B+J-stmbt-747674.JPG”img style=”float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 267px;” src=”http://www.webskis.com/uploaded_images/D+B+J-stmbt-747631.JPG” border=”0″ alt=”” //abr /br /For us, skiing is not just a luxury. It is an essential part of who we are as a family. We end up not spending money on other things so that we can spend money on skis. We taught our kids to ski and it has helped tighten the bonds. Our priorities were to spend what little money we could spare on skis, boots and wax and not on lawn care or house upgrades. In my opinion it was a wise investment and lessons well learned. br /I hope to see you out there embracing winter. • A lap with. . .Roberto Carcelen

Roberto Carcelen is a member of the Peruvian National Team.  In fact, for all intents and purposes, Carcelen is the Peruvian National Team.  I first met Roberto on a bus ride home from the venue at the World Championships in Liberec, Czech Republic last winter.  He’s one of the few other skiers out on the trails here in Silver Star and we had a chance to catch up during a ski this afternoon.

    Roberto Carcelen

    Roberto Carcelen

Like us, Roberto is out on the trail testing his new fleet and getting some valuable time on snow at altitude.  If he toes the line in Vancouver this February, he will be the first Peruvian to compete in the Winter Olympics, ever.  He’s here with his wife and their two-year old daughter training for the week.  (MaryBeth, I’ve been trying to convince Matt that he needs to bring you and the kids out here next time!).  They actually live in Seattle and Roberto does most of his skiing up in the Methow Valley.  Gotta say, I was pretty impressed by how well Roberto was skiing this afternoon.  He says he does a lot of his training down in the Andes running on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, where he operates his business Inca Runners.  He’ll be joining us on our intervals tomorrow.  It’ll be exciting to follow his progress, along with all of Peru, during the coming winter.

  • Getting Settled

Another beautiful day in Silver Star.  Matt & I are out of the hostel and living with Marshall Greene, my old Middlebury teammate, & Brayton Osgood of the XC Oregon team, in a little condo.  After a lot of planning and travel, it’s great to be in one place for a while.

We skied classic at Sovereign Lake this morning on Toko red.  Could’ve used a little binder to keep the wax on longer, but, if that’s my only complaint, I really can’t complain.  Conditions are better at Sovereign now than they were in December last year and we enjoyed a few loops ripping around the World Cup trails.

On Sunday I had the wonderful opportunity to work with the local Bill Koch Ski Club. The local club is run by the Rochester XC Ski Foundation and under the guidance of Bob Witkowski. The ski foundation as well as the BK club is one of the major driving forces in the area to develop not only youth skiers but the sport of Nordic Skiing!!
